Home Sweet Home

Sustainability 101
Brought to you by www.earthtibetv.org
Home is where the heart is.

That's nice but something warm in winter, cool in summer, dry, safe, and comfortable would be lovely.
Is it too much to ask for earth friendly, sustainable, inexpensive, local and unique materials to build this place of spirit and body?
To have a safe haven that is not only a reflection of you but an artistic abode worthy of being part of the landscape.
I love the Internet. I have found links to people and ideas that give me hope for humanity. No longer is there a monopoly on information or containment of ideas. To hell with cracker box houses with over watered lawns and white, picket fences. Who's messed up idea was that!?
I have always wanted to live in a tree house. I was the queen of forts and other eco hideouts as a kid. I dreamed of building my own home and working it into the surrounding landscape so it wouldn't clash. Who wants to live in an eyesore?
These are just a few resources. There are so many alternatives to crap housing.

We live in exciting times! Things are changing so fast and I look around me and see people fighting to hold on to old ideas and behavior. Adapt or die.
As humans, we have not done a whole lot of adapting to our environment. Instead, we adapt our environment to us. Looks like we got that one wrong.
Don't get me started on certain people trying to tell natives how they should be living, even though it goes against everything their culture was built on over thousands of years.
We are smart mammals. Lets show the other inhabitants of this planet how to evolve. We can have technology without raping the earth. We can have function, beauty, comfort, and sustainability all in one package.

A local favorite.

Who are the people in your neighborhood?
You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.
Winnie The Pooh - as written by A. A. Milne

Throw potluck dinners, plant a community garden, play Frisbee, swap recipes or baby sitting. Aren't we all really neighbors now? We can chat with someone across the globe in real time. Information is a click away.
I'm excited! I'm passionate about change and hope it's for the better. It has to be people, or we're screwed.

Every little bit helps. Don't get discouraged.
Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree. Martin Luther
